Since Humana in Arizona charges a fee. about the same as Part B, I can't choose that even if I could afford Part B. Part B of Medicare is $96.40. My monthly fee for Medicare Prescription Drugs is $27.10. If I happen to need any medication, I will pay an additional $30 to $100 per drug. I need two inhalers, which are expensive, but I have COPD and cannot do without them.
Medicare/Medicaid fixes are probably not priorities with the economy as it is. I earn $314 per month Social Security and have very small interest from only one savings account. My only hope is to run out of money so I qualify for Medicaid. I just spent $355 to have a broken crown fixed that my Mom paid for five years ago. Nothing I have helped me there. I opted out of Part B for obvious financial reasons. I can't live on the rest so I continue to draw from my savings to survive. My rent is just $500, which is great, if my income wasn't so low. I am 73 years old and would like to have comprehensive health care like the Congress has and would pay the $96.40 per month for that, but if I pay Part B, my expenses for health care just go down the drain until I get sick. Then almost nothing is covered without some ridiculously high copay. I hope that you, Mr. President-Elect, will put us seniors on your list of priorities this first term. |
