I was really surprised, this time around, by the large amount of states that almost always turn red during an election. Take Indiana for example which hasn't voted Democrat for the president in a long time. In fact, Indiana has only voted in favor of a democrat for president three times since 1900.
Although, I am not completely shocked by the democrat turn in Indiana... it is often a rough race for the factory workers in the northwest of the state and in the way south of the state, but was extremely surprised to see counties where a democrat stands no chance to win turning blue. Even my home county in Michigan which is deeply Republican turned blue for us this time around. What are your thoughts? What was the situation in your state? What about in your county? |

I am from Indianapolis and I was very proud to see Indiana go blue. We have come a long way from the state were the KKK began. I was so proud that this state was more concerned about change, than the color of the person making the change. I have also had stangers of different races ask me how I felt about the election and ask if I was happy. I was approached by two ladies in a convenience store and I told them about my grandparents (that are still living ) that use to drink out of the black water fountains and eat in the black eating establishments in Mississippi, and how happy I was that they are still alive to see the first black president elect. They began to cry and one lady even hugged me. Indiana was way over due for a change.
