Default Cost of public schools

I'm not sure about how things work in each state but I know for a fact that it actually costs in many areas just to attend a public school. Aside from lunch or breakfast fees many children have to pay for books, lab fees, band fees, uniforms, and tons of supplies that many families can afford.

With the way the economy is today many individuals can barely afford to cloth and feed their children much less worry about the high school fees that seem to be rising each year.

Also I have noticed that schools in many areas don't run buses so the parents are responsible for driving them or the kids have to walk.

Many children who would love to participate in after school activites or sports simply don't because they can't afford it.

I think there should be some type of government funding put in place so that no kid should ever have to go without any benefit that school has to offer.

How would this benefit not only the children but their families and us as Americans?

If more children were able to participate in things such as sports, band, extra accademic programs there would be more physical activity which helps prevent health issues or obesity.

More children would be less likely to drop out of school because they have more to look forward to than studying.

Those who are active and involved are less likely to become involved in drugs or get into trouble.

They are less likely to become depressed or act out if they really are happy.
